Sunday 9 January 2011

There's nothing like getting up at 11.35 on a Sunday - well perhaps maybe getting up at 11.40 might be - but I haven't tried that, I'm just not that lazy.

So that whole Christmas thing is out of the way finally - which means that the tree may well need to come down today. Apparently I'm already late in doing this, but I have been enjoying passing out drunk underneath it & waking up confused thinking that I'm in a forest.

So every year, amongst all those bottles of whiskey that my liver is always so thankful for, there is always one stand-out gift. Normally from my youngest sister Charlie.

This year was no exception.

As a bit of backstory, toward the end of last year I discovered that I was actually pretty good at baking, like really pretty good. And so in a bid to "encourage" my new found talent, my beloved (bitch) sister bought me this...

Yup, a princess pink cupcake maker.

Now I'm a guy who's comfortable with his sexuality, but something about this gift just seemed to scream 'gay' (I must point out that I have no issue if that's your preferred orientation, but it's not quite the look that I'm going for).
So in an attempt to butch up my new gadget, I set about covering it with seamen.

There's nothing more manly than a bunch of pirate stickers. Nope, you can't call that bad boy gay now...

New Year came & went without event, other than feeling very very ill. I would recount my NYE activities in all their glory, however the phrase, "Way too graphic", has been thrown around after past re-tellings. All I'll say is never buy Chinese food from a northern guy called 'Jimmy' the night before any big event.

A friend of mine held a house party to celebrate, which she says took a whole day to clean up after - I was in pretty much the same state.

I never fully understood the concept of 'New Year Resolutions' - afterall the difference between NYE and New Years Day is the same as the difference between today and tomorrow. If you really wanted to fundamentally change your life then surely you'd just do it?

Anyway my resolution was to give up drinking - not all drinking, I kinda need water, etc - but alcohol I guess I could do without. I lasted approximately four and a half minutes, but there's always next year.

I do need to renew my passport at some point in '011 - I doubt that classes as a resolution, generally I think it falls under the category of 'admin'. For the past year and a bit I've been locked in England with no way out... an asylum seekers dream.
Given that the world is set to end in '012 (those crazy mayas and their 'Long Count' calendar system) I should probably get out and see some of it whilst it's still there.

Maybe I'll try America, I've been told that they'd love me out there - although there was no mention of the hourly rates for that service & I think Amsterdam would probably be cheaper.

Ah well, that's me done for another night, time to get back to the bottle - until the next one, G'nite & stay safe!
